What if you could go to heaven and you would have all of your friends, all your family, boundless resources and unlimited time to do all your recreation activities, but God wasn’t there. Would you still want to go?
Heaven has been given as an incentive for those who follow after Christ, but the King is the thing.
“To the believer, Christ is the resurrection and the life. In our Saviour, the life that was lost through sin is restored,” Ellen White wrote in “The Desire of Ages.”
Life is full of chills and thrills that may seem fulfilling, but if we’re being honest, they are really temporary. My argument is simple—Jesus is better! He is more beautiful and more awesome. He is exceedingly and abundantly above all you could ever ask or think.
Jesus says, “I have come that [you] might have life, and that [you] might have it more abundantly.” John 10:10
He isn’t asking you to enter for a chance to win His love. All you have to do is read the Word, know the Author and turn your heart in with His name on it. It might not seem that simple, but God has promised to finish the work that He has started in you.
Wanting a nice car, beautiful house and 2.5 kids isn’t wrong, but they shouldn’t eclipse your love for Jesus.
As Saint Augustine once said, “Christ is not valued at all, unless He is valued above all.”
